The objective of the L1MA Train the Trainer Workshop is to prepare instructors for the L1MA training Program. The applicant’s license shall not be subject to current disciplinary action, and the individual shall not be on the Employee Disqualification List.  The applicant must also meet the following qualifications to become a LIMA Instructor:

  • A Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) licensed in Missouri or in possession of a temporary permit from the Missouri State Board of Nursing, or shall hold a multi-state or single state registered nurse license from a jurisdiction that is a party to the Nurse Licensure Compact; and
  • A minimum of one (1) year experience working as a nurse.

The applicant must provide documentation showing these requirements and be approved to attend this workshop.

When the applicant has successfully completed the L1MA Train the Trainer workshop, their name will be added to the Department of Health and Senior Services L1MA Instructor Registry.

The Level I Medication Aide (LIMA) training program prepares individuals for employment as a LIMA in residential care facilities (RCFs) and assisted living facilities (ALFs).

The program is designed to teach skills in medication administration by the following routes: oral, rectal, vaginal, otic, ophthalmic, nasal, topical, transdermal, buccal, sublingual, aerosol, nebulizer, and oral metered-dose inhalers.
