PHLEBOTOMY TECHNICIAN PROGRAM

The healthcare industry continues to offer growth and career opportunities. The phlebotomy technician program prepares an individual for an entry-level position in a hospital or private lab setting. This program will teach students how to obtain blood specimens from patients, the correct order of draw, and other laboratory skills and techniques. One attempt at the certification exam is included.

ONE SECTION OFFERING AT SPRINGFIELD CAMPUS – SUMMER ONLY

Course Title: WDH – 513
Course Length: Twice a week – one face-to-face and one live lecture via Zoom or Canvas, PLUS a minimum of 10 hours a week commitment through the online learning system, Canvas. Per accreditation requirements, students must receive a minimum of 40 hours, including anatomy and physiology of the circulatory system, specimen collection, specimen processing and handling, and laboratory operations.
Class Dates: June 22, 2022 – August 10, 2022
Class Meets: TBA
Location: Springfield Campus, Lincoln Hall
Requirements: Clinical requirements are 100 hours and 100 successful, unaided blood collections, per accreditation requirements. Clinical time is during the weekday hours (Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm) and will be scheduled halfway through the program.
Tuition: $2,355 per person (Financial assistance may be available. Apply now to determine eligibility.)

Course Title: WDH – 514
Course Length: One face-to-face and a minimum of 10 hours a week commitment through the online learning system, Canvas.  Per accreditation requirements, students must receive a minimum of 40 hours, including anatomy and physiology of the circulatory system, specimen collection, specimen processing and handling, and laboratory operations.

Class Dates: August 24, 2022 – December 14, 2022
Class Meets: Wednesday evening from 5:30 pm – 9:00 pm (off holidays or when the campus is closed)
Location: Springfield Campus, Lincoln Hall
Requirements: Clinical requirements are 100 hours and 100 successful, unaided blood collections, per accreditation requirements. Clinical time is during the weekday hours (Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm) and will be scheduled about halfway through the program.
